We are seeking flexible Relief Cover staff to cover our staff when they are off work.  Relief cover will include dates that are planned well ahead, such as for holidays or when staff are completing training; and sometimes it will include cover with less notice, such as for sickness.  We would particularly like to increase the number of Relief Cover staff who could be available during school holidays.

Our ideal candidates will be excellent at building relationships and empowering others.  You will have experience of leading small groups of people who have a range of different skills and abilities, or experience of supporting others.

Brunswick has a number of different work areas and we’re looking for people whose knowledge or experience would be able to support these.  For instance, our horticulture staff tend to have horticulture qualifications or have worked in a related role; our crafts staff have art or design qualifications or can show experience of creating and/or selling their own art or crafts.  We do provide training but we’re looking for people who already have a good grounding in at least one of these work areas.  Our work areas are:

  • Land crops - growing organic vegetable and fruit crops.
  • Plant production – growing from seed and plugs, propagation and plant care.
  • Garden Services in the York area – garden maintenance (driving licence essential)
  • Shop – serving and selling to our brilliant customers!
  • Woodwork – hand making a range of items from recycled wood.
  • Office administration – drafting our newsletter,  administration and organising events.
  • Crafts – weaving, jewellery, dried flower crafts, card-making – we make all sorts!
  • Cooking – creating delicious vegetarian lunches during the week for our teams.
  • One-to-one support – enabling and empowering with a commitment to building genuine relationships.

As these are relief roles, they do not have any contracted hours although over a year we expect an average of 1-3 day’s work per week depending upon the number of areas you can work in and your availability.  Hours are variable but most take place between 8.30am-4.30pm Monday – Friday.  Some evening and weekend work is also available to cover one-to-one support roles.
